As the U.S. President enjoys the lime light of his Nobel Peace Prize a silent tsunami of extreme proportions is slowly headed his country's way. It is "the jobs void of Generation Y" within a high pressure zone of "white collar crime without consequence"!
In 2008 U.S. job losses amounted to some 2.6 million in number. Estimates for 2009 are now coming in at around 5 to 6 million. Then enters Generation Y, three times the size of Generation X (60 million to be exact) who are individuals born between 1979 and 1994 (15 to 30 yr. olds) and who are now beginning to enter the job market. Most that are, have been taking one look at things and turning around to both extend their college education and help buy them some time, but one can only prepare so long for a future that has so far, shown nothing but an atmosphere of a barren, desolate, desert. Enabling your imagination to even begin to get a grasp around this scenario, it correlates into this. Over the coming decade the United States economy will require a job creation somewhere in the neighborhood of 55 to 60 million "new jobs" (recovered, prior jobs may count in this, but so far it appears that very few will be) !
Being the recipient of a peace prize is an admirable achievement. However, it doesn't excuse a President of the U.S. from taking bold action on any front of circumstances that render the demands. I've known many a lawyer in my time who made very peaceful neighbors, but you wouldn't want to be caught dead on the other side of the fence from them in court, because they'd rip you to shreds. America is screaming for "financial investigations, prosecutions and convictions" right now and not just tougher regulations.
If putting tougher regulations into place for the financial markets is all that is done, you are telling the people "no one is guilty up to now"! America is screaming for "jobs, both new and recovered" as well as "innovation, creativity, capital expansion" and a "growth rate on a far more massive scale than ever before seen in this country"! If talking a good talk to students is all that you deliver, you better go back and tell them just "what" in God's name you are suggesting they go back to school for! So far I've found that most people including myself, dislike stating that President Obama is a lot more like George Bush than unlike him. In the grand scheme of reality, if he doesn't soon learn how to "walk softly, and carry a big stick" it will result in the majority of his population being placed on quicksand, in a very sickly, destitute, quagmire, some 40 to 50 times greater than hurricane Katrina! Thus far Mr. President, the only message from you, being read between the lines by youth is "Corporate and Government Crime Paying the Highest, where you can do the crime without the time"! Hell, even without getting so much as subpoenaed!
I was born in Manhattan and patted on the head at the age of 3 by Howard Hughes on the steps of an old New York A&P which had sawdust on the floors. I've had close associations with former vice presidents of Aetna, Merrill Lynch, IBM, Smith Barney and Black Enterprise and was previously in wholesale distribution for Polo Ralph Lauren. After I married, I remained in China for 3 years doing business language coaching, conceptual instructions, negotiations and research for 25 separate organizations and companies such as Total-Fina-Elf, Rockwell Automation, Whirlpool, New Oriental School, Nanhua University of Industry and Commerce, Sci-Head Patient Lawyers and True Alaska Bottling. I'm currently employed with a small publishing firm in Palo Alto, CA.
