"The most paramount outcome from these present times, is that it reflects just how hard it is for “we the people” to elect individuals who will not betray them..."
The US was founded by some very brave people who believed in the rights of freedom and “happiness” for all. They did not sign the Declaration to be ruled by the wealthy, corporations, or religious idealists. In fact if one takes the time to sit down and actually read this document, it may astound you how ever so far we have strayed from its true intentions. “Are we really still a democracy”?
It is interesting to note “just how many of us actually are independent” and how many are being forced to work at their jobs this day! The groundwork laid by the previous US administration, which gave birth to a thirst for change left the American landscape in a complete fiscal, social and moral devastation, shock and awed, as if it were Mr. Bush’s pre-meditated mission, devised by the powers that be. Barack Obama was elected in people’s reaction to such devastation on a wave of their thirst for “Change”. Unfortunately, what the people’s idea of change was and what President Obama calls change are appearing more and more to be navigating in different orbits. He has been trusted enough to “be just, ethical and dutiful”, yet his actions are oftentimes outfoxing, as if he were serving the very same “powers that be” which Mr. Bush served. Some are beginning to call it, “the same old garbage, in a brand new truck”, a phrase coined by the late singer/songwriter Michael Packer!
Currently what hot topics I'm getting from the masses, that they consider meaningful change and would like to see, are as follows:
- Elimination of the Federal Reserve Bank (Obama seeks to expand its powers)
- Arrests and prosecution of criminal members of the previous administration (Obama is silent)
- The Employee Free Choice Act (So far, saving GM jobs his only token to labor)
- No Bank bailouts (Obama does the complete opposite)
- Funding and incentives for small businesses (Obama sides with “too big to fail”)
- Arrests and prosecution of criminal members tied to the Federal Reserve, Goldman Sachs and Wall St entities. (Obama opens government welcoming door to them, even further)
- Tough with Israel, more opportunities to the Arab world (Obama sides with Israel).
President Obama talks a great story, however when it comes to delivering thus far he has done nothing but reward failure. Reward the very individuals, enties and corporate thieves who were responsible for the mess that our country is still in and will continue to be in for the foreseeable decade coming. I'm sorry; I myself have trusted this man, but judging from his actions and his inactions he is behaving like a paid pawn. A puppet who has been bought and paid for. As for the better half of the US Congress and Senate, people's main gripe these days is "where in God's name is the BACKBONE in these individuals"? I would suggest to every one of them fitting this description that they begin looking over their shoulders early, because the people are already prepared to give them the boot!
It is no wonder then why President Obama hit it off so well with French president Sarkozy. Sarkozy, the son of an immigrant Jewish mother from Greece, his father left the family when Sarkozy was only 5. After a great rail strike which broke out in France shortly after his election, he and his administration managed to settle it, with a tad upper hand to the government in just 9 days. This should have served as his launching pad for his mandate, but instead he quickly sought a divorce and then remarried. The fodder in the press from this twist in events then greatly eroded his popularity. Having been the son of an immigrant has since, shown no mercy towards his current crackdowns on immigration.
So far the costs to maintaining his presidency has shot up 18% and the costs of official visits have increased 26%. He has since broken an electoral promise to show more transparency in the secretive operations of the Elysee’ Palace where the growth of its spending has seen 7 fold that of the State’s expenditure. And while State employees faced wage freezes the president awarded himself a 140% pay increase in 2007. His growing distaste for Muslims now sometimes reaches a point near nazisque as his relations with Israel tie a tighter knot. All in all, President Sarkozy who once sported an 80% approval rating has now diminished to below a 50% majority, as his citizens ever more desire his former opponent, Segolene’ Royal.
The most paramount outcome from these present times, is that it reflects just how hard it is for “we the people” to elect individuals who will not betray them. If they don’t get it the next time around, then perhaps we will all live to see the whole ball of wax unravel (the powers that be), or have it stomp our last grasps of freedom into the dust.
I was born in Manhattan and patted on the head at the age of 3 by Howard Hughes on the steps of an old New York A&P which had sawdust on the floors. I've had close associations with former vice presidents of Aetna, Merrill Lynch, IBM, Smith Barney and Black Enterprise and was previously in wholesale distribution for Polo Ralph Lauren. After I married, I remained in China for 3 years doing business language coaching, conceptual instructions, negotiations and research for 25 separate organizations and companies such as Total-Fina-Elf, Rockwell Automation, Whirlpool, New Oriental School, Nanhua University of Industry and Commerce, Sci-Head Patient Lawyers and True Alaska Bottling. I'm currently employed with a small publishing firm in Palo Alto, CA.
